We met through on-line dating in 2009 and had a special connection. Our first date was at a local coffee shop and we talked for hours. We got engaged and were married in 2012. We bought a home in New York and began to plan a family. Adoption became our path.

Hillary is from New York and Joel is from England. We were instantly attracted to each other’s foreign accents, although we did not always understand what each other were saying.

When we met each other’s families for the first time, we were instantly given warm welcomes. The importance of a strong family bond was obvious to both of us.

We have traveled extensively to places such as Galapagos Islands, Hawaiian Islands, and countries all over Europe. We look forward to seeing the world with our children, especially to places where our relatives live. We want our child to experience the excitement of different foods, lifestyles and languages together as a family.

Hillary is a School Psychologist, which she finds rewarding. She helps children learn how to figure things out for themselves to succeed academically and socially. Hillary is taking courses to advance her career.

Joel is a Travel Agent. He enjoys learning new things about different parts of the world and how to get there to experience them. We make plans using the perks of his job to see them for ourselves.

Joel’s job also allows him to work from home when needed.

We are fortunate that the flexibility of our jobs allows us to share being stay at home parents.

Hillary is very close with her parents and her extended family. Her cousins are like siblings and their children are like nieces and nephews. We see them often, and not just to celebrate holidays. Hillary’s family are from all over country. This will be Hillary’s parents’ first grandchild.

Joel has two sisters. One lives right down the block with her husband and three children, and we see them often. One lives with her husband and two babies in England, as do Joel’s parents, his grandmother, and other relatives. Joel has more family living in other countries. We all go back and forth across the Atlantic several times a year.

We share our home with two playful cats, Sadie and Jagger. They were both rescued as kittens and they welcome us home every day by jumping on our laps as soon as we sit down.

She enjoys spending an afternoon with friends browsing outlet malls looking for bargains, and can’t wait to start shopping at Baby Gap and Gymboree!

Joel enjoys cooking for me, bringing me flowers or my favorite ice cream, or surprising me with a book or DVD he knows I want. I know that he will be a very generous and caring father.

Joel is extremely intelligent and well read. He is an excellent scrabble player and I can envision him doing homework at the table with our child.

Joel is extremely passionate about his favorite English soccer team, Tottenham Hotspur. He never misses watching a game. Joel will be dressing our child in the team uniform, watching games with them, and I am sure that our little one will soon be playing soccer.

We live in a suburban neighborhood of the city where the schools are excellent and there are numerous parks and playgrounds. Our apartment building has a private outside playground for the children who live there. We are members of a local pool club that we frequent with our friends and their children. There are always many local community events and many cater to children.

We live only a short trip from the city with its many cultural attractions. Nearby towns also offer many other recreational activities for children.

We have a great kitchen where we love to cook and entertain for family and friends.
