Our story together began in July of 2010 when we met on a Cruise out of Jacksonville, FL. As cliché as it sounds, it was love at first sight. We were placed at the same table for dinner and we haven’t stopped talking since. James was from New York and Brett from Iowa. When we returned home we talked everyday and made trips to see one another. After eight months, we couldn’t stand being apart any longer and Brett moved to New York.

Our first home together was an apartment that James owned. After a year we decided that we were ready to make a leap and buy a single-family home together with a large fenced in backyard for our loving dogs, Henrik and Gunner.

A typical day in our home starts early! James gets up with the dogs and gets them ready for the day, feeding them and letting them run outside, while Brett makes breakfast. We are both then off to work. When we get home we go for a run in the State Park that is around the corner from our home. Brett makes dinner when we return as James cleans. We spend the remainder of the evening catching up, playing with the dogs, and spending some time in the jacuzzi.

Since the day we met we have both talked about wanting to start a family together. We have spent the last four years preparing for this moment and are so excited to be ready to add to our family.

Brett was born and raised in the Midwest. He believes in hard work and putting everything he has into what he does. Brett loves being active and constantly staying busy. Since purchasing our home in 2012 he has added a full bathroom, remodeled the existing bathroom, and put a large new deck on our home. Once one project is complete he is always looking for something new to start. I am always amazed with his talent. He is also wonderful with people both professionally and personally. When people meet him they just want to be around him. Whether we are traveling or working he is always meeting new people. Brett’s many friends will attest to his caring love and support, which is what will make him such a wonderful father.

James grew up on Long Island, New York and comes from a very large family who he is very close with. Since I met him his dedication to his work and family has always inspired me. He has worked as a dedicated High School Math Teacher for twelve years and loves what he does. Along with teaching he is involved in many extracurricular activities for the school. He directs both the Winter Play and the Musical productions for the High School every year and every year I am amazed at what he is able to accomplish. James loves working with children and helping to shape them into the people they will become. His dedication to his work and his family is what will make him a terrific father.

We own a split-level home with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. We have a large kitchen and formal dining room where our family and friends congregate when we have them over. We have a very spacious and cozy den downstairs where we are sure will be loaded with toys. Our backyard is beautifully fenced with white PVC fencing. It is large enough to place a nice size playground for when the time comes:) The neighborhood is very diverse with many children in the area and very little traffic. We are also within walking distance to a State park with trails, playgrounds, and a lake.
