Hello!

Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about Tim and me, and our wish to grow our family once again via adoption.
Making a plan for adoption is a profoundly loving and selfless decision: to give the gift of family to those who cannot have children biologically. Wow! We are so grateful to our son's birthmom. Everyday we think of her and how our lives are filled with this immense joy because of her. So we think anyone who considers making a plan for adoption to be a pretty amazing person!

So, how did we come to adoption? We took it for granted that we'd easily have children. We struggled through infertility and miscarriages, but realized we wanted to be parents more than anything. For us, the answer was very clear: we'd build our family through adoption. With that decision, all the struggles and heartache melted away. We are optimistic, upbeat and know that things happen for a reason. We've been so lucky in life! We have each other, a great partnership in our marriage and now, we're blessed to be parents to a sweet little boy and know that our family has more love to give!
If you like our profile and can imagine your little one needing the type of life we can offer, we promise to honor your trust in us every single day. We'd spend our lives being the very best parents we can be: loving, supportive, encouraging and instilling confidence, creating a stable home full of laughter and giving all the opportunities we possibly can. We'll encourage our son to embrace his important role as a big brother - by being protective and loving. Another priority for us is to instill in our son (and future children) is just how loved they are by their birthfamily. They'll never doubt that your decision was grounded in wanting the very best for them and that they were the answer to our prayers and countless wishes on shooting stars!
We'll show our children the world - visiting relatives in three continents and appreciating art, architecture, languages and other cultures. We're close to Washington DC, so with all the museums, history and monuments, festivals, and parades, there's always something to do. At home we color, read, make music and have impromptu dance parties. Or in the neighborhood at the local nature preserve and walking along the river path looking out for eagles and ospreys overhead.
We take seriously our responsibility of instilling self-confidence, teaching manners and demonstrating kindness and compassion for others. We will encourage our children to develop their natural talents and bring out their own unique personalities. We'll cheer them on and support them in their favorite sport, activities or hobbies.
Since education is important to both of us, we know we'll beam with pride when our children further their education and pursue their dreams. We'll encourage them to enjoy this life and make the world a better place. We'll give them unconditional support and love, because the sky's the limit for our children.
If you'd like to talk with us, give us a buzz 1-888-634-1142. We'd be thrilled to explore if this might be the right connection for you and for us!
Take care!
love Melissa, Tim and J.

Meet Melissa

Well, the first thing people notice about me is my “sneak attack” British accent. I grew up in on the south coast of England and moved to the United States with my mom and dad and brother when i was a teenager. So i’ve been in the US for quite some time, but i still pronounce a few things in a very British manner (hence the “sneak attack” accent that pops out with certain words or phrases!). Growing up, i had a very fun childhood full of travels around Europe exploring castles and gardens inspiring a love of travel and history that’s become a lifelong passion. My parents taught me the importance of not only using words, but also actions to show just how much you love and cherish your family and friends Life’s too short to not look at the sunny side of life. I try to stay positive and upbeat, even when life gives you lemons. I think this attitude has helped me deal with the infertility. Now that we are finally parents, i can say reflect back and say these challenges left us stronger and more determined to be the best parents we can be. All the experiences on our adoption journey have made us even more thoughtful people who appreciate all the opportunities, luck and support we had in life. As they say, if it doesn’t kill you, it makes you stronger! I always try to look on the bright side and make the best out of every situation. We were blessed to adopt our son at the end of 2013. Not a single day goes by that i don’t fall more in love with him. He is my joy and delight and watching him learn about the world is so thrilling. It makes my heart so happy to see Tim playing and cuddling with him. He is such a good father! Tim loves reading our son books, playing with him and feeding our son’s curiosity, as well as handling diaper duty! We have a philosophy of shared parenting and so far it is such a blast! We know that we have so much more love to share, we’d love for our son to have the joy of a little brother or sister!
